The upper branch of the outlet plumbing went to the two spray nozzles, and the lower branch led back to the sump. The flow could be proportioned between the nozzles and the sump bypass using the red-handled valve. This allowed using the nozzles to their capacity, while avoiding tripping the overpressure switch on the pump.
